Spring Cleaning Tips

As the snow melts and the days grow longer here in Minnesota, there’s nothing quite like that first breath of fresh spring air to inspire a good deep clean. Whether you're preparing to sell your home, recently moved in, or just want a fresh start, spring cleaning is a great way to reset your space—and even add value to your property.
Here are a few of our favorite spring cleaning tips to help you get started:
1. Start with a Plan
Before diving in, take a walk through your home and jot down areas that need the most attention. It’s easy to get overwhelmed, but tackling one room or category at a time (like all windows or closets) can keep things manageable.
2. Let the Sunshine In
Clean your windows inside and out. It’s one of the easiest ways to make your home feel brighter and more inviting. Don’t forget to wipe down the sills and frames, too!
3. Declutter with Purpose
Go room by room and sort items into “keep,” “donate,” and “toss” piles. Ask yourself: Have I used this in the last year? Less clutter not only makes your space feel better—it shows better if you're planning to list your home.
4. Refresh Walls & Baseboards
Dust and grime build up slowly over winter. A quick wipe-down of baseboards, walls, and light switches can make a surprising difference. Consider a fresh coat of paint if a room feels dated or dingy.
5. Deep Clean the Floors
Salt, sand, and snow can take a toll on floors. Whether it’s shampooing carpets or giving hardwoods a good polish, your floors will thank you—and so will any potential buyers.
6. Give the Kitchen & Bath Some Love
These are two of the most important rooms when it comes to resale. Scrub tile, clean out cabinets and drawers, and polish appliances and fixtures. It’s a good time to check for leaks or minor repairs, too.
7. Don't Forget the Exterior
Minnesota winters can be tough on the outside of your home. Sweep porches, clean out gutters, power wash siding, and consider fresh mulch or new plants to boost curb appeal.
