Jennings Bay, nestled in the northwestern section of Lake Minnetonka, spans across parts of Mound, Minnetrista, and Orono. It is bordered to the east by West Arm Bay and is just a short drive from Mound Westonka High School, placing it within the boundaries of the Mound Westonka School District. With 3.5 miles of shoreline and a maximum depth of 26 feet, Jennings Bay is a haven for water sports enthusiasts. Popular activities on the bay include water skiing, wake surfing, and wakeboarding. Noteworthy residential areas like Woodland Point and Skogsberg Point are known for their stunning lakeside homes. The Seahorse Condominiums, a 13-acre property on Jennings Bay, offers lakeshore living with dock slips and direct water access for its residents.
According to the Minnehaha Creek Watershed District, Jennings Bay receives a water quality grade of C, which makes it suitable for swimming and boating, particularly later in the summer months when water conditions tend to improve.
There are no specific boating restrictions on Jennings Bay, making it ideal for recreational boating.
Although there are no public boat launches or marinas directly on Jennings Bay, nearby access points like Spring Park Boat Ramp and North Arm Launch offer convenient entry to the lake. This contributes to a quieter, more exclusive feel for boaters who prefer docking in the bay.
Jennings Bay is a favorite destination for swimming, fishing, and all manner of water sports. Its 290
acres of water, with an average depth of 11 feet, make it a hotspot for wake surfing and other
recreational activities. The bay is home to two serene public parks: Gillespie Park and Canary Beach.
Gillespie Park, located off Westwood Drive, was donated to the city of Minnetrista by local
philanthropist William Gillespie. This peaceful park features open grassy areas, picnic benches, and
scenic views of the bay, making it ideal for relaxing afternoons of sunbathing, reading, or
leisurely walks.
Canary Beach is tucked away off Canary Lane, offering a secluded lakeside beach for those looking to
enjoy a quiet day in the sun. Both parks are perfect for visitors seeking relaxation or time spent
in nature.
Whether for water activities or peaceful lakeside retreats, Jennings Bay offers a beautiful, welcoming
environment in the heart of Lake Minnetonka.
