The bay's water depth reaches a maximum of 60 feet, and it receives a solid B rating for water quality from the Minnehaha Creek Watershed District. The water generally remains clear and clean, although some algae may develop during the late summer months, which can affect swimming conditions.
There are no boating restrictions on North Arm Bay, allowing for an uninterrupted experience on the water.
The city of Orono operates North Arm Launch, the only boat launch on this bay. Conveniently located just a few minutes from downtown Spring Park, this launch provides easy access to the entire Lake Minnetonka area. Its proximity allows boaters to quickly get out on the water and enjoy all the lake has to offer.
Though the bay’s shoreline is primarily residential, recreational options are just a short trip away. Noerenberg Memorial Gardens, located nearby in Crystal Bay, is a scenic 73-acre space that’s perfect for a peaceful day out or a special event like a wedding. For dining, boaters can head to Lord Fletcher's Old Lake Lodge on West Arm Bay, where convenient dock access makes it easy to stop for a meal while cruising Lake Minnetonka.
