Robinson Bay is a picturesque area situated on the east side of Lower Lake, flanked by Browns Bay to the northwest and Wayzata Bay to the north. This charming bay features a mile of shoreline that is primarily shared between the cities of Deephaven and Woodland. Homes in Robinson Bay are served by the highly regarded Minnetonka School District, making it an attractive option for families. One of the standout features of this area is its sandy beaches, a rarity on Lake Minnetonka, providing residents and visitors with a serene lakeside experience. Gibson's Point, a notable residential enclave within Robinson Bay, has historical significance dating back to the mid-1800s. It was here that Charles S. Gibson, seeking a summer retreat from Missouri, constructed what would become the largest house on Lake Minnetonka in 1877.
Robinson Bay boasts a maximum depth of 70 feet, and it has received an impressive A rating for water quality from the Minnehaha Creek Watershed District. This classification signifies crystal-clear waters, perfect for swimming, fishing, and other recreational activities throughout the year.
Robinson Bay has no boating restrictions, allowing for a wide range of water activities without limitations.
While Robinson Bay does not feature its own boat launches or marinas, nearby Browns Bay offers a variety of options. Residents can take advantage of marinas such as North Shore Marina and Browns Bay Marina, which provide easy access to Lake Minnetonka, along with dock slips and off-season storage for boats.
Robinson Bay is proud to host Robinson's Bay Beach, a tranquil public beach maintained by the city of Deephaven. Nestled along Robinson's Bay Road, this beach offers a quieter alternative to the busier public beaches on Lake Minnetonka. Although it does not have lifeguards on duty, the beach provides essential amenities including restrooms, a swimming dock, off-street parking, and picnic tables, making it an ideal spot for family outings and leisurely days by the water.
